Aaron Keyt is a Pacific Northwest experimental music composer based in Seattle. He has written numerous works for piano, organ, other solo instruments, and chamber ensembles, as well as computer-generated music. Many of his recent pieces have been inspired by Alaska, where he has traveled and worked extensively.
Aaron’s music seeks to reflect the natural world in its unpredictable order, its pursuit of its own destinations, and its simple being.
Aaron began composing when he was 9 years old, and four years later entered the composition program at the University of Washington School of Music, where he also studied trombone. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa and with honors, he continued his composition studies in the graduate program of Princeton University.
Also an active improviser, he is a founding member of Banned Rehearsal, a Seattle ensemble that has been making music since 1984. Aaron sings choral tenor and enjoys four-hand piano with his spouse, Jennifer Chung.
