Pocket Sonata for flute and keyboard

My Pocket Sonata (2021), for flute and keyboard, is a very brief (about 4’30”) five movement work, intended for intermediate-level flute players and/or buskers. The keyboard part is for a small electric organ/field organ/sampling keyboard.

This piece was inspired by a family of house finches that chose to nest under the ceiling of our front porch. We enjoyed watching the brood of five babies grow and eventually fly off. (Note that, although one movement in this Sonata is styled “lacrimosa”, as far as we know nothing bad has happened to any of the finches.)
